Exclusive: Bill Hader on How He Became a Cinephile and Advice for Fellow Film Fans

That’s the hard thing now, that I watch things and I go, “Oh, I see how that’s interesting. That’s cool how they did that.” And then when you know people in the movie, you’re like, “Oh wow, this is really cool that they did this.” I miss watching something completely removed. I remember on a Sunday afternoon on television Psycho just played on AMC and I’d never seen it, and I sat and my parents were in another room and I watched Psycho and didn’t know the twist or anything and totally just had an amazing cinematic experience, where I just got so caught up in the movie. 1. I know exactly what he is saying. Watching a great film especially with an unexpected twist. You are almost living inside the screen, being in the moment and living it and then you get the jolt of the twist and my god you are excited.
